Cinema As Practice

Dianne Griffin has been making documentary films for more than three decades. Her work has grown into what she calls Cinema as Practice, an invitation to engage with film as a living, intentional experience where the screen can serve as mirror, companion, and catalyst. Informed by her Zen Buddhist practice and 26 years as a film juror, Dianne views filmmaking as a transformative process in which everyday realities are questioned and new perspectives and relationships emerge.

Cinema as Practice encourages a mindful, curious relationship with film. Dianne aims to create connection, stay open and introspective, and spark resonance within the communities she serves. She sees film as an opening where creativity and human experience meet, inviting understanding and transformation.
